Virtual church - covid-19 crisis

During the covid-19 crisis, you can find weekly services on our public facebook page here. You do not need a facebook account to view this page - it is visible to all. These services include voices from our choir, who are singing in their own homes and then voices are combined using the wonders of technology! They also include readings and prayers given by members of the congregation. If you would like to be involved with this, please contact Elizabeth - everybody who contributes will do so virtually  (if you need help with technology, let us know!).

We will also be posting prayers and readings below, for you to read and use in this time. Many thanks to all who are contributing to making church an ongoing presence.

Prayers

Heavenly Father, we come before you as your dispersed and scattered children. We have no place in which to gather to praise you. We cannot meet to encourage and support one another. The Kiss of Peace is no longer given. The cup of salvation is no longer lifted up. In this extremity we recall that you are everywhere, and give thanks that we can meet with you in private prayer.

Lord, in your mercy ......hear our prayer

Father, as the natural world moves into Spring we praise you, as we rejoice in warmer days and the unfurling of green leaves.

Lord in your mercy ... Hear our prayer

Father we pray for protection in the public health crisis which is now upon us. Human life is everywhere threatened by Coronavirus. We pray that our deadly enemy be overcome and driven from our shores, and from the world.

Lord, in Your mercy. ... Hear our prayer.

Father we offer thanks that we have a system of health care in this country that is available to all, and does not run for private profit. Grant judgment and strength to those who work in the NHS. Bless those courageous volunteers who have offered their help, and prosper their work. Be with those people who have contracted the virus, to support and console them. Be with those who will not recover, and guide them, through Your Son, into eternal light and peace.

Lord, in your mercy ..... Hear our prayer

Father we remember our friends whom we know by name who are sick at this time: Especially we think of Geoffrey Barlow and Ian Purver, and pray for their well-doing.

Lord, in Your mercy .... Hear our prayer

We pray for those who have died. May the souls of the faithful departed rest in peace and rise in glory.

Lord in thy mercy ....

Accept O Lord these prayers which we offer in the name of your blessed son, our Saviour, Jesus Christ.

Amen
