Wednesday 6th December 2017 saw the official launch of “The Hive”, our joint Community Kitchen venture in collaboration with L’Arche and the Withington and Fallowfield Foodbank.  It was an amazing day with the Bishop of Manchester, David Walker, coming to ceremonially cut the cake and unveil our much-admired touchy-feely wall fresco!  Loads of people attended and had a lovely time – it really feels as though The Hive has a secure future as a place of welcome.

If anyone had any doubt that The Hive is a place for building community they had only to look around them last Wednesday to see the wide group of people who had come together.  From babies to retired people volunteering their time to help serve; workers on their lunch break and unemployed people looking to put their time at the service of the community; people with and people without disabilities being served and serving others.  Looking around you would see a community caring for itself; healing itself; creating belonging.
